Like many great Chicago companies, Liquidus was founded on Cubs Opening Day. That afternoon in 2001, Todd and Chris began with a bar napkin and a handshake. The bar napkin became a business plan, and with Kirk on board, Liquidus entered the world as a boutique interactive development company. Liquidus grew rapidly, and upon executing a video-on-demand project for Comcast in 2004, Liquidus management realized the potential of building VOD technologies for interactive TV. Liquidus then diversified into online and mobile video production and syndication, and now provides its portfolio of breakthrough opportunities for advertisers in Real Estate, Autos, Jobs, Dining, Travel, CPG and other product verticals. Meet the men who steered Liquidus from a basic idea to a major video marketing, merchandising and technology company with a national footprint.

Todd Holmes

President and CEO/Founder

Todd Holmes, the founder and CEO of Liquidus, has helped to build it into a multi-million dollar video marketing business since it opened its doors in 2001. Prior to Liquidus, Mr. Holmes founded several businesses in the technology, direct marketing and Consumer Package Goods sectors. Mr. Holmes began his career as an entrepreneur by founding Beer Across America and International Wine Cellars as well as The beverage businesses were sold to Direct Wines, the world's largest wine club. In addition, Mr. Holmes is one of the founding investors of Goose Island Beer Co. Mr. Holmes is on the board of directors of the brewery, which is one of the fastest growing in the US. Mr. Holmes is active in the Chicago community. He is on the Board of Directors for Starlight Foundation. Mr. Holmes lives in Chicago and has three wonderful daughters.

Chris Carlton

EVP Creative Services/Founder

With over 16 years experience as an Art and Creative Director, Chris Carlton has crafted award-winning advertising, technology and graphic identities for a long list of clients. Upon the dawn of the World Wide Web, Carlton took to embrace what he refers to as "the ultimate medium for communication." Working as Creative Director for Playboy Enterprises, Carlton was charged with bringing their catalog businesses online, as well as communicating the Playboy brand through and other online properties. These catalog sites included, and After Playboy, Carlton joined forces with Todd Holmes at where the two focused on developing the largest online retailer of wine, spirits and beer on the Web. Later, and before starting Liquidus, Carlton spent time as a Creative Director for Ogilvy & Mather, overseeing the success of the Ameritrade brand online. At Liquidus, Carlton has leveraged his creative and technology skills by overseeing the Liquidus video-product roadmap and has been principally responsible for helping diversify Liquidus products onto multiple screens and into multiple channels. Chris is a graduate of University of Wisconsin and lives in Chicago with his wife Lindsay.

Kirk Davis

EVP, Account Services/Founder

Kirk Davis is principally responsible for the development and management of the Liquidus Videolink product and its client base, including names such as ADP/Digital Motorworks, General Motors CPO,, Ford Direct,, and more. He has 29 years of experience in the marketing industry in the areas of online marketing, promotions, sponsorships, direct marketing, events and advertising. He has serviced companies in many verticals such as Anheuser-Busch, Amoco, AT&T, Levi Strauss & Co., Microsoft, Jack Daniels, Chrysler, Kraft and more during his agency years. In the interactive arena, Davis began executing his first web-development projects as early as 1995 for Bacardi, USA and has been steeped in interactive marketing ever since. He became a Liquidus Principal in 2002, and the company has been focused on video merchandising for online, mobile and TV since 2004. He holds a Masters in Liberal Arts from University of Chicago and lives happily in the city with his wife Raphaela and twin five-year-old boys.
